Baby Online

Baby Online

This logo for a baby store is a clever way to get the companies purpose across. This logo could be created using Illustrator with the pen tool or the shape tool. I think that this design is clever, however the colors that are used for the logo could be better and more effective. I believe that it is effective to have the ‘B’ be different colors than the rest of the logo so the viewer is able to tell that there is a ‘B’ and an ‘O’ incorporated inside of the logo.

Hopscotch Music Festival

Hopscotch Music Festival

This poster for a music festival is cheerful and inviting. The guitar and leaves could be created in Illustrator using the pen tool. The clean design other than the guitar is a nice relief from the pattern. I think that it was a great idea of the designers to place acorns as the tuners of the guitar, it also gives a fall-feel to the piece.

Girl Photograph

I was immediately awed by this photo. I think that it is so cool how the artist placed a landscape where her skin used to be. I would create this photo using Photoshop with the help of masks, opacities, and layers. I think that it would take a lot of time in order to get the landscape the right amount of intensity so her features still show through.

International Tourist Year 1967

I like the overall feeling of warmth of this design. The light brown background warms the whole design, making it appear friendlier. The hands, created in Illustrator using the pen tool, overlap to create one color. The blue hand has a lower intensity than the red, allowing the hands to blend together as one.

St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase

Although I am completely biased, being from St. Louis, I think that this design is a really creative way to publicize a film festival. I think that the ice cream being film strips is creative and playful, depicting the feel they want to portray. I would create this entire piece using Illustrator with the help of the warp tool, the pen tool, and the shape tool.

Time For Wine

Time For Wine

This cute design is a great combination of two different illustrations. I like the play on words with the hour glass and the wine glass inside, I think that it is a funny way to depict the saying. I would create the hour glass and the wine glass in Illustrator. But I would add the distressing that is over the picture in Photoshop with the help of filters and noise.

Nutty Squirrel

This logo for a gelato store is funny and creative. Usually I would find the font of this design childish, but I think it works with the overall feeling of the piece. I believe that the squirrel and ice cream cone could be created using the pen tool in Illustrator. I think that the design is clever and the squirrel fits perfectly on top of the ice cream cone, posing as gelato.

Ro & Co

I love the font used for this business logo. I think that the thin font is very clean and crisp, while the circular font around it makes it less formal. The ‘R’ leading into the ampersand is a creative use of text while still allowing it to be legible. I would create this design using Illustrator with the type on path tool and the line tool. The light brown background also allows the design to be less formal and create a sense of warmth.

Eight

Eight

I don’t know what this design was used for but I instantly found it interesting. I think that it is so cool that the designer broke up different parts of the number eight in order to create this design. Although the ‘T’ in eight isn’t what we traditional would recognize, the other letters allow us to see the meaning. This design could be created in Illustrator using the Pathfinder tool in order to exclude different parts of the eight.

Tiffany and Co.

Tiffany and Co.

Not the traditional Tiffany and Company logo, this design takes a fresh new approach on the old logo. I think that the design is very interesting with all of the fonts interlocking and on top of one another. Although this design is a fresh new approach on the old logo, it might be illegible when shrunk down to a smaller size. This design could have been created in Illustrator with the help of the pathfinder tool and the text tool.
